A major fire broke out at a rubber factory in Sonipat, Haryana on Tuesday, news agency PTI reported, citing police officials.

According to police, the incident took place in the evening in the Rai Industrial Area of the district and around 40-45 people were injured in the horrific incident, of which five sustained severe burn injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital.

“40-45 people were injured. Most of them are labourers. The factory manufactures rubber belts,” PTI quoted Rai SHO Umesh Kumar as saying.
However, the exact cause of the fire is still unknown and investigations are underway to determine whether a boiler on the premises may have burst.
Due to the excessive heat and extreme weather, fires are occurring almost daily.

Earlier in the day, a fire broke out at a warehouse near Delhi's Mansarovar Park metro station at around 7 pm. Two commercial buildings also caught fire in Srinagar's upscale Rajbagh area today. Fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the blaze was contained.

Additionally, a major fire broke out at an eye hospital in the capital's Paschim Vihar district early today, with six fire engines rushed to the scene to douse the blaze. The fire broke out on the second floor of the hospital. No one was injured in the incident and people were safely evacuated from the building, the Delhi Fire Department said.
The incident comes days after a massive fire at a hospital in the city's Vivek Vihar district killed seven newborns and prompted the Delhi government to order fire audits of all state and private health facilities.
Meanwhile, the national capital Delhi continued to experience scorching heat on Tuesday with temperatures soaring to nearly 50 degrees Celsius, prompting people to seek respite.

Temperatures soar to nearly 50 degrees in parts of Delhi
The city's official observation station, Safdarjung, recorded the highest maximum temperature on Tuesday – 45.8 degrees Celsius, five degrees above the seasonal average. However, Mungeshpur and Narela on the city's outskirts recorded 49.9 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, nine degrees above normal. Najafgarh recorded 49.8 degrees Celsius, while Pitampura and Pusa recorded 48.5 degrees Celsius.
