According to the fire department, Lotus Boulevard was among 370 high-rise blocks in Noida and Greater Noida that were subjected to fire audits. Flaws in firefighting measures were found in 125 high-rises and cases were filed against 77 blocks for non-compliance with fire norms, officials said.
Following reports of a fire in the society's 30-storey building on Thursday, with the help of the society's security team and residents, the gas line at the IGL was cut off and electricity was cut off across the floor.
“A fire audit at Lotus Boulevard found deficiencies in several firefighting measures and we have asked the Apartment Owners Association (AOA) to rectify them,” Gautam Buddha Nagar area fire chief Pradeep Kumar Chaubey said, adding that this helped in dousing the blaze within 30 minutes on Thursday.

Officials said fire drills were conducted during the audit to educate residents as well as maintenance and security personnel.
“We also exchanged telephone numbers with the AOA and the association's maintenance and security staff. These measures proved successful as the maintenance staff immediately contacted the fire department on Thursday,” Chaubey said.
“The firefighters used the association's firefighting equipment to completely extinguish the fire. The fire was under control within 30 minutes of arriving at the scene,” he said.
AOA president Prabhakar Bhardwaj said swift action by association officials and residents also helped in containing the fire.
“The fire was promptly reported by the security team and alert residents. All emergency protocols were followed. Fire extinguishers and fire hoses on site were deployed and the security and fire teams quickly doused the fire without wasting any time, much before the fire brigade reached the scene. The fire hoses on the floor worked well and helped in bringing the fire under control within critical time,” he said.
