Around 410 fencing boards in the city have become illegal as the validity of the structural audit report conducted by the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) expired two months ago.
The corporation has therefore directed the directors of the agencies concerned to conduct a structural audit of these enclosures within seven days.A meeting in this regard was held at the corporation on Wednesday in which strict instructions were issued to the directors.
Following the incident of a fencing board collapsing in Mumbai's Ghatkopar, the CSMC has taken strict action against fencing boards installed along roads and on buildings. Accordingly, notices have been sent to 14 agencies having 410 fencing boards in the city to carry out a structural audit of their fencing boards. These 14 agencies have been asked to submit an audit report of the 410 fencing boards. However, the process was delayed as the administrator G Srikanth was not in the city.
On Wednesday, Srikanth held a meeting in this regard. He collected information about the illegal enclosures and the structural audit conducted on these enclosures. It was found that the tenure of 410 enclosures had expired two months ago. He therefore declared these 410 enclosures illegal and directed the agency heads to conduct a structural audit and submit a report within seven days. Else, strict action will be taken in this regard and these directions will also apply to mobile tower operators, he clarified.
