There are 34 merged villages within the PMC's jurisdiction and currently there are 2,418 authorised enclosures. The PMC issues enclosure licences every three years and there is now provision to carry out annual structural audits and submit reports periodically.

Following the recent incident at Wagholi, PMC's Sky Sign Licensing department has swiftly acted and now requires structural audits of all authorised enclosures, especially those deemed dangerous or posing a traffic hazard. Enclosure experts are responsible for ensuring the safety of official enclosures, but there has been a lack of follow-up to ensure compliance. From now on, advertising billboards permitted by the PMC will undergo structural audits every year instead of the previous biennial audits. The decision comes in the wake of the tragic incident two years ago when an advertising billboard collapsed in Mangalwar Peth, killing four people. This incident raised major concerns about the safety of advertising billboards in the city and prompted the civic body to implement various safety measures.

Besides lowering the height of fencing boards from ground level, the administration is prioritizing regular structural inspections to mitigate risks and ensure public safety. The mandatory annual inspections are aimed at preventing accidents and maintaining the highest safety standards for Pune residents and visitors.
